Docket numbers were first assigned in 1911 to items of business for the faculty to consider. Generally the Faculty tended to consider one docket per meeting in consecutive numerical order. After a fire destroyed the original Gilchrist Hall on May 12, 1972, on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, the cornerstone was recovered from the ruins. That cornerstone was opened on October 7, 1972, and the material noted below was discovered.
